- 2019 Borgo Conventi ‘Luna di Ponca’ Collio Bianco (Friuli-Venezia Giulia): A rich, honeyed, and perfumed minor masterpiece. $75 A-
- 2019 Weingut Leitz Pinot Noir Rose Trocken (Rheingau): Uncomplicated-ly solid. Watermelon and cherries for days. $12 B
- 2013 Victor Hugo Winery ‘Opulence’ (Paso Robles): Appropriately named for all of that silky smooth black fruit… $30 B+
- 2016 Clos du Val Chardonnay (Carneros): Butter and dried apricots herald the arrival of a damned good version the big CA Chard style. $30 A-
- 2016 Cannonball ‘Eleven’ Merlot (Sonoma County): Equally tasty measures of plums and Slim Jim. $29 B+
- 2020 Hahn Family Wines ‘Appellation Series’ Pinot Noir (Arroyo Seco): They get bonus points for mixing the very ripe red berry, smoke, game, and vanilla into such a crowd-pleasing package. $22 B+
