- 2020 Luna Rosa Winery Merlot (Mimbres Valley): Savory, beefy, and pushing everything to its theoretical limits. $20 B
- 2020 Luna Rosa Winery Sangiovese (Mimbres Valley): The cherries are on point, even if the power is a bit on the forceful side. $22 B
- 2020 Luna Rosa Winery Tempranillo (Mimbres Valley): Balanced, spicy, and fresh proof that Temp is becoming one of the world’s best-traveled vars lately. $20 B+
- 2018 Chronic Cellars ‘Sir Real’ Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles): Charging energetically into battle with a phalanx of red fruit and cocoa. $18 B+
- 2014 Herzog Wine Cellars Variations French Oak Cabernet Sauvignon (North Coast): On the way out, but it’s a flashy, bright, smoky, spicy, thrilling exit of a performance (& one that proved the naysayers wrong). $35 A-
