I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!
W & J Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port (Portugal): This is a classic for very good reasons. Consistently excellent, easy to like, rich with toasted filbert, caramel, light butterscotch, dried fig. $39 A-
2012 Chateau Lestage Simon (Haut-Medoc): Silky and savory now, with dark plum, blackcurrant, potting soil, toasted walnut, cigar box, and basically all the Bord’x “stuffing.” $35 B+
2012 Stellina Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi): Pushing the envelope into super silky/supple terrritory, maybe a touch too far, but looking sexy while doing it. $32 B+
