Good morning, campers!
While I am en route to Sicily (again!) for a mix of business and pleasure, here’s a quick-hit to let you know that my latest piece for Napa Valley Wine Academy is now live: The Rising Impact of Washington State’s Wine Scene.
In this article, I make a brief (but researched!) argument that Washington State fine wine is not, as we have for so long been told, the “future”—it is the NOW. It has arrived. It is here, and it’s come to kick ass and chew gum (and it’s on its last stick of gum).
Sure, Napa and Sonoma still take all the air out of the collective fine wine media coverage room, but I posit that Washington wine’s best are the equal of their best at this point. Not only that, but portions of Washington State are, in fact, the very best places in the USA to grow world-class Syrah (I don’t get into that in the article, but I am willing to figuratively die on that hill).
Those of you who are already in the know about this are shaking your heads in agreement while sipping a glass of WA state red. The rest of you need to check out the details at https://napavalleywineacademy.com/the-rising-impact-of-washington-states-wine-scene/
Cheers!
