It’s with great, great pleasure that I report this quick hit update, letting you know that I will be one of the judges at the 2022 Colorado Governor’s Cup wine competition in Denver, held August 19-21!
This one is exciting for several reasons. First, the organizers of this event have been trying to make me a part of it for years, and the timing/situation just never worked out until now. I am stoked to finally be able to do it. Second, it’s been ten years (“TEN YEEEARSSS, MAN!“) since I toured Colorado in any official wine capacity, and I’m very happy to be headed back. The event also involves colleagues who I admire and/or am lucky enough to call friends, so I’m anticipating lively, professional judging and much off-hours buzzed merriment. And finally, it just feels f*cking excellent to be on the road judging again in person after two-plus years of lockdown!! I mean… daaammmmn, I’ve only written and published two books and had a second child since the last time I sat in a judge’s chair in front of a group of wines…
More to come from the event, but for now you can catch up on the details at https://coloradowine.com/governors-cup/.
Cheers—and talk to you from the Mile-High city!
