Give an attention whore a chance to make an idiot out of himself… and the results speak for themselves.
At least, that’s what I learned about myself this past week at the 2nd annual American Wine Bloggers Conference.
You’re probably expecting some sort of WBC recap, but I’m saving that (more or less) for 1WineDude TV episodes. If you really want a recap of (what was a very successful) WBC, there are tons of good ones popping up on the Global Interwebs this week. I recommend this one from W.R Tish, who I happen to think is totally awesome (and I told him this personally enough times at WBC that he might be considering a restraining order against me for WBC 2010…). If anyone is wondering why I’ve been posting vids and not writing 2500-word blog posts this week, the technical answer is that I’m on vacation. Sort of.
Anyway, I did have a point to all of this rambling, but I forgot it so instead I’ll give you an update on some other very cool wine media happenings, all of which highlight just how much of an attention whore I am.
Oh, yeah, they’ll also give you some great info. on wine and wine bloggers…
- A big THANKS, BRO! goes out from me to the fine fellows at Mutineer Magazine for listing 1WineDude as a must-read blog in their July issue, which is at newsstands now. On the same page, MM also interviews Craig Drollett, co-fonder of TasteLive.com, who also mentions @1WineDude as having the best tasting notes during Twitter Taste Live events – and I did;t even have to pay him! I should mention that I do NOT want to thank the MM guys for making me swig absinthe at the after-after-party during WBC. My head is still aching from that…
- During the “Red Wine Carpet” WBC grand tasting of Napa & Sonoma wines at Quintessa this past weekend, I was interviewed by the fun and gracious folks of StarkSilverCreek, an on-line video magazine covering all things CA-lifestyle. Their high-quality, cleverly-produced videos highlight just how sophomoric my video attempts are… Anyway… the must-see interview features me and other bloggers and captures our thoughts on the tasting, WBC, and wine in general.
Cheers!

Nice post Joe – again, great to meet you.
Thanks – right back at ya!
There's another blog featured on that same magazine page that's pretty terrific as well. Just sayin'.
Right you are – in fact, there are several! :)
I saw that too – congrats! Sorry we didn't get to meet at WBC. Next year in Walla Walla? Cheers!
Uhm… I thought that we *did* meet… or are you talking to Dale?
Ha – I was talking to Dale. Don't get so sensitive! LOL
That comment hurts my feelings…
Aw. Do you want a hug and a glass of wine?
How about just the wine? :)
Hey, thanks for mentioning my WBC piece at winebusiness.com. It was an honor to try to capture thel zeitgeist of WBC09 under their aegis. (Did I just say "zeitgeist" and "aegis" in the same sentence?). I am also sorry I missed meeting Ryan and that Dale could not make it. His blog (http://drinksareonme.net) and yours, are both must-reads.
Good stuff, Tish. Although, I don't recall "a large collar or cape worn in ancient times to display the protection provided by a high religious authority or, it is the holder of a protective shield signifying the same, such as a bag-like garment that contained a shield" for the WBC.
And if there is one, I wanna wear it for a few mins! :-)
